Previously held at the Tent at Marina Promenade, Audi Fashion Festival Singapore will return to the heart of the city at Tent@Orchard from 14 to 18 May 2014.
For the first time, the festival will open with an Asian designer – Prabal Gurung. The Singapore-born Nepalese American has a Fall 2014 collection that is as intriguing as his ethnic background, with luscious hues of red and cosy turtleneck elements that were inspired by the people of Nepal. Paint-brush tapestry effects are another feature of Gurung’s collection, with reference from abstract paintings by Cecily Brown, an artist who has become a friend of his. The rising fashion star, Prabal Gurung is a hit with leading ladies such as Michelle Obama and The Duchess of Cambridge.
Continuing the tradition of being the only fashion week in the world to host both emerging designers and world acclaimed fashion names on the same stage, AFF 2014 sees five Singaporean labels – Saturday by Nic Wong, Hansel by Jo Soh, Ong Shunmugam, Ashley Isham and Exhibit. From across the Causeway, renowned Malaysian fashion designer Farah Khan will be making her Singapore debut with her Fall/Winter 2014 collection, as well as Paris-based designer Jonathan Liang.
AFF 2014 will close with Oscar de la Renta, whose showcase will include his Fall 2014 collection. The widely celebrated fashion designer boasts a career of more than four decades, and is one of the world’s most successful and respected figures in the fashion industry. Full skirts and sharp suits with showy peplum are just some of the many details you can look forward to at de la Renta’s showcase. We expect to be blown away by his selection of flowy gowns that serve as a highlight of every collection, with past seasons’ offerings adorned by the likes of Mila Kunis and Penelope Cruz.
