This year, 10 to 13 March will be held the 1st edition Maison & objet Asia. Taking place on 10 March 2014, the invitation-only party promises to be a design event not to be missed.
The event will take place in the magnificent Marina Bay Sands, Expo and Convention Centre, Singapore. Maison & Objet Asia will be part of Singapore Design Week 2014, a week celebrating the very best in design and will be present 150 exhibitors, from around the world.
Following the success of Maison et Objet Paris the aim of Maison & Objet is to give visibility to brands and talents of one of the dynamic regions of Asia.
The show features several collections: designs objects, textiles, home accessories of all world. This is a unique opportunity to meet trends and news about interior design
Like explained Philippe Brocart, managing director of Maison & Objet “seeking not only to reach out to new markets, by taking many of its exhibitors abroad, but also to canvas new talent and brands in those markets” is the mean of this fair.
Brocart said Singapore was chosen as the location, over say, a Chinese city because of its ease of access and convenience for international exhibitors. “You have everything around the convention center, and it’s only 20 minutes from the airport. In China, I might spend an hour in traffic from my hotel to the convention center.”
‘Talents a La Carte’
Following the example of Maison & Objet Paris, there will be a place dedicated to new designers, the ‘Talents a la Carte’.
Featuring new talents from the region, it will present six of the best emerging designers, each representing their individual countries. Nominated designers will come from the fields of fragrance, object, furniture, graphic, wallpaper and textile, lighting, fashion accessory, jewellery design and home decoration. This will be an important opportunity for Asian designers show their work to the international professional visitors of Maison & Objet Asia.
Designer of the year Maison&Objet Asia 2014
The Designer of The Year Maison & Objet Asia 2014 will be selected from among top Asian designers who have made a strong impression in their field of design. The Designer of The Year Maison & Objet Asia 2014 will be given an opportunity to design an aspect of the show in Singapore and will play the role of ambassador for Maison & Objet Asia.
“Asia is fast becoming an important design market and is also home to some of the most innovative and creative designers and design projects today. Maison & Objet Asia offers a platform to showcase some of the best in Asian design and provides an opportunity to feature collaborative projects from around the region. Maison & Objet Asia in Singapore is the new destination to see and experience the latest design trends emerging from the region,” says Mr Philippe Brocart.
