Do you know that Tom Ford launched recently his first luxury store in Singapore?

So, today Asian Interior Design talks about this amazing designer and fashion icon, as well his luxury store.

Tom Ford gained international fame for his turnaround of the Gucci fashion house, where he was creative director for both Gucci and YSL from 1994 to 2004. Born in Austin, Texas, he moved to New York during his teens and graduated in architecture from New York’s Parsons The New School for Design. He moved to Milan to work for Gucci in 1990, initially as the company’s Womenswear Designer, then becoming its Design Director and Creative Director. At Gucci, he was responsible for the design of all product lines, from clothing to perfumes, and for the Group’s corporate image, advertising campaigns and store design. During the 10 years that Tom Ford was Creative Director for Gucci and the Gucci Group, sales rose from US$230 million to almost US$3 billion, making Gucci one of the largest and most profitable luxury brands in the world.
He left Gucci in 2004 and in April 2005 announced the creation of the TOM FORD brand.

Recently, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands welcomed Singapore’s first freestanding Tom Ford store. To celebrate the launch of the store, F J Benjamin co-hosted a glamorous opening cocktail reception with representatives from Tom Ford International on May 7. Notable and illustrious guests invited to this exclusive event were guided to the event along a grand carpeted walkway that lead to the store.

The VIPs enjoyed a personal experience of the new boutique that comprises of exquisite sections for Men’s and Women’s ready-to-wear, accessories, eyewear, beauty and fragrances. Amidst the luxurious décor and plush furnishings, many guests were in clear admiration of the dazzling pieces from the Cruise 2014 and Spring Summer 2014 Collections. The magnificent showcase included cocktail dresses with all-over glass embroidery and silk iridescent floral jacquard tuxedo jackets in rich, colorful prints and hues.

The 2,031 square feet store is an alluring physical manifestation of Ford‘s personal design aesthetic; a timeless, luxurious private home with a touch of soft modernism and formal symmetry. Coated in Tom Ford monochrome palettes of pale grey and deep brown tones, accented with chrome and glass, the architecture is anchored in a formal enfilade style where a series of salons unfolds on a single axis, providing a view through the entire suites of rooms. The store houses a comprehensive menswear collection alongside a captivating selection of shoes, accessories, cosmetics, fragrances and eyewear that will satiate modern dandies everywhere.

About the launch of its first South-East Asian freestanding store, Tom Ford said “The Singapore opening is very significant because there is a very sophisticated client who wants the finest accessories and clothing for all aspects of their life, and they want it presented in a modern way that resonates with the new world that is fast emerging in Asia.”
